We Sell Sonoma Homes
Having sold about a dozen Sonoma homes in the last few years and having helped nearly as many buyers find their perfect home in Sonoma over the past 10 years, Heritage Sotheby's International Realty agent Teri Buchanan knows the Sonoma Valley well. From Sonoma's historic and chic Eastside to the newer subdivisions south of the Plaza and west of Broadway, to the senior and condo communities on the Westside off Arnold Drive, Buchanan can find the neighborhood that's exactly right for your full time or weekend home. Also among your Sonoma Valley choices are the "hot springs" towns north of Sonoma as well as the quaint village of Glen Ellen mid-Valley.

The City of Sonoma
-- The hub of the Bear Flag Revolution that brought California into the U.S. still boasts plenty of reminders of Spanish rule: the northernmost of California's missions, San Francisco Solano; General Vallejo's carefully preserved Victorian home, and the adobe barracks that anchor the north side of the tree-shaded Plaza.

Wine has, of course, been important here far longer than in neighboring Napa Valley. Buena Vista Winery, a few miles east of the central Plaza, a fixture here since 1857, was the state's first premium winery. Agricultural products beyond wine -- including fine cheeses -- have been a hallmark of Sonoma County for centuries. So, the cultural, culinary, agricultural, architectural and viticultural heritage runs deep in this town of about 10,000 full time residents. People work hard to maintain the town's uniqueness.
Its residents so value their life in the "slow lane" that Sonoma became the first  "Cittaslow City" in the U.S. Cittaslow is the civic equivalent of Europe's slow food movement and denotes high quality of life, localism, sustainability and preservation of a locale's unique cultural heritage.

While the City of Sonoma offers homes in varied price ranges, with a slight lean toward the moderate to expensive side, the villages on its northern border (Boyes Hot Springs, Fetters Hot Springs, Agua Caliente) are better known now for low and moderately priced housing than for the resorts of a century ago. Once visited by San Franciscans for their geothermic hot springs, only Boyes Hot Springs' Sonoma Mission Inn remains a resort destination. These towns are characterized by electic neighborhoods of small '30s and '40s bungalows, modern apartments and condos and hillside homes with terrific Valley views.

A secluded village pop 950+ about five miles north of Sonoma, Glen Ellen is a Victorian-era hideaway made famous by writer Jack London, who lived here from 1909-16 and often wrote about his beloved Valley of the Moon. The site of his ranch is now Jack London State Park. Glen Ellen is also home to many vineyards and wineries including B.R. Cohn Winery, Benziger Family Winery‎, Mayo Family Winery‎, and Valley of the Moon Winery‎.
