Napa: My Favorite Things
Sunlight and rainbows and dog parks/no leashes, dining on patios, shopping at Oxbow. Walks by the river and trips on the train . . .these are a few of my favorite things . . .
Farmers Markets: Tuesday & Saturday mornings, Napa; Friday mornings, St. Helena & summer Friday evenings Napa downtown.
Gardening: Napa Community Garden (Jefferson & Trower), not to mention the back yard. Forni-Brown Gardens (Calistoga) spring plant sale (April/May). Native plant garden at Skyline Park. Nurseries: Mid-City, American Canyon; Van Winden's and DJ's, Napa; Whiting's, St. Helena.
Performance spaces: Napa Valley Opera House, Uptown Theatre (Napa), the Cameo movie house, St. Helena. Veteran's Park, Napa, for summer concerts. The Wine Train, equal parts vintage travel & gourmet dining with many seasonal, theme and winemaker dinners.
Events: Napa's July 4 -- and other -- festivals by the river featuring the Napa Valley Symphony and fireworks. Yountville's annual Festival of Lights to kick off the holidays. Driving between Napa and St. Helena during spring mustard bloom season or "crush" in September and October: you catch the scent of ripe grapes! Napa's river walk (anytime).
Seasons: Yes, we have them! Spring, summer and fall (aka crush) are spectacular. Winter can be rainy & cool -- but the rainbows -- and the spring wildflowers -- make up for it.

St. Helena: Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen, Dean & DeLucca, Farmstead, Gillwood's Cafe, Meadowood, Terra, and Tra Vigne. Napa Valley Olive Oil Mfg, (in an ancient barn with an old-school Italian market), Olivier and St. Helena Olive Oil Co. Chocolate: Anette's, Napa; Woodhouse, St. Helena.
